ALFIE
Hi, I’m Alfie, and welcome to my house! Well, it’s not really my house – but I live near here and it’s like my house.

BILLIE
It’s nothing like our house! It’s not like anyone’s house!

ALFIE
Yes it is, Billie! It’s just a lot bigger and a lot better. Anyway, who asked you?

BILLIE
Mum said I had to keep an eye on you.

ALFIE
I don’t need an eye on me.

BILLIE
She said to remind you that we can’t touch anything, because everything here is 200 years old and it’s very irreplaceable.

ALFIE
Duh! I knew that!

BILLIE
And we can’t take photographs.

ALFIE
I know.

BILLIE
And we have to stay inside the ropes.

ALFIE
I have been here before, you know?!

BILLIE
Well, if you’re such an expert, why is it like our house?

ALFIE
It’s got a front door, where we came in. And this is the hallway.

BILLIE
So where did people hang their coats?

ALFIE
They didn’t have to. A prince lived here, and he had servants. So guests got out of their carriage outside under the archway and came through here…

BILLIE
Like Cinderella, to go to the ball?

ALFIE
I suppose so. Or just for a party or dinner.

BILLIE
Have you seen all the dragons painted around the room?

ALFIE
And all the fish. It’s like we’re swimming in a big green fish tank!

ALFIE
And there are a lot more dragons further on!

BILLIE
So what are we waiting for? Let’s go!

ALFIE
I’m waiting for you, Billie!

BILLIE
(TO LISTENER) We’re going into the next room, if you want to come with us.

ALFIE
Yes, why don’t you come with us. Come on! Oh, and look out for the nodding figure, just opposite the door.
