20. Victoria Gallery [+]

Transcript

As none of William and Adelaide’s children had survived infancy, when William died in 1837 the throne passed to Princess Victoria of Kent, the daughter of George and William’s younger brother Edward, Duke of Kent. She was duly crowned Queen Victoria in 1837, aged just 18.

Before we learn about Victoria’s view of the Pavilion please look in the exhibition room to the right. During the First World War, the Pavilion was used as a hospital for Indian soldiers. This gallery tells the story of the Royal Pavilion’s use as a military hospital and features photographs and objects associated with the building at this time.

When you are ready, go up the steps into Queen Victoria’s Bedroom.
